more Microsoft has delivered its improved Kinect for Windows, a motion sensor device that aims to bring Kinect entertainment to the PC masses. But unlike its Xbox 360 forefather, the Kinect for Windows comes sans any utilities or games. So for now at least, it's a plaything for developers only.
more Just ahead of the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this coming weekend in Las Vegas, Lenovo announced numerous new ThinkPad notebooks that it will release throughout the first half of 2012. This doesn't represent the company's full PC lineup for this part of the year, but it does present a tantalizing glimpse at the portable computing future.

more Microsoft this week released a beta version of what appears to be a very useful tool: An offline version of its Windows Defender anti-malware solution. This tool can help final and remove malicious software, much like the version built into Windows. But because it can be installed to CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, it can be run in offline mode, when the Windows OS isn't running.
more Now that smart phones have decent cameras, many people won't need to carry an additional gadget with them all the time. But we're also going to want to make sure those memories we record get properly archived, at home on Windows PCs, and in the cloud via connected services.
more My advice is to consolidate email accounts aggressively in the cloud when possible, however, since client consolidation--as you'll see--requires a lot of configuration, and you'll need to repeat these configuration changes each time you reinstall Windows or reset your mobile device.
