Shipping Seven: An Ongoing Dialog About the Next Windows
Part 4: Pre-PDC Presentation
Last night, on October 1, 2008, I gave a presentation about Windows 7 to the Boston Area Windows Server User Group at Microsoft's regional office in Waltham, Massachusetts. The timing, of course, was poor: We're going to learn a lot more about Windows 7 in less than a month at the Professional Developers Conference (PDC) 2008. But using information from publicly-published reports and screenshot galleries of recent M3 ("milestone 3") builds of the OS, I was able to compile what I think is a still-interesting list of information about Windows 7. And much of it--like voice controlled accelerators and a new Windows Solution Center--hasn't gotten a lot of attention yet online for some reason. So this should be news to a lot of people.
Let's jump in.
