Hi, I'm Paul

I'm Paul Thurrott, the guy behind this Web site. I create all the content here, including the graphics and site design.

Contacting me

I currently receive well over 100 non-spam email messages a day during the week, and it's difficult (if not impossible) to manage these messages, let alone respond to each one individually. Some people are amazed when I'm able to get back to them immediately, while others wonder why I never respond. What it all comes down to is the quality and complexity of the original email, the phase of the moon, and how busy I am at the time. If it's something I can answer off the top of my head, I will do so. If it's something I have to research, it might take a while. And if the email itself is vague or unclear, it may never happen at all. Sorry!

While I can't promise that I will respond to every single email anymore, here are a few guidelines that might help:

  • Only ask questions to which I already know the answer. Just kidding.

  • Please don't ask me about specific hardware or software configurations. I'm not familiar with the Ricoh XYZ123 and no, I don't know why it doesn't work with Windows XP.

  • On the other hand, vague questions like Why can't I reinstall Windows? or How come I can't get email? are unanswerable.

  • Don't ask a question in the subject line or leave the subject line blank. My spam filter tends to trap these types of messages.

  • Remember that I can no longer answer every email that I receive. In the past, I had asked readers to resend unanswered questions, but this simply led to people resending the same questions repeatedly, often as much as once an hour. Because of the volume of email I now receive, it's not possible for me to answer all of my email personally. I'm considering starting up a Q & A page, however, for the most common questions.

  • Make sure you're using the right email address. Please use thurrott@windowsitpro.com.

And thanks for reading, seriously. The contents of this site are literally dictated by what readers want. So drop me a line and let me know what you're interested in reading about.
