HTC Titan (And Other Windows Phones): One Penny, Today Only, AT&T Wireless

rating: (17)

You can purchase a Windows Phone 7.5-based HTC Titan for one cent today only, online only, from AT&T Wireless. This is the largest Windows Phone handset and the one, I believe, with the best camera. Originally, I had expected to see this phone appear as part of AT&T's Black Friday sale. But it's available (for now) at last.

The purchase requires a minimum data service starting at $15 per month with 2 year contract and new activation (normally; activation fees are apparently waived today). Stepping through the wizard, it appears you can also get the deal by adding a new line and using this as a second phone (which I'm thinking about).

Thanks to Jeff F. for the tip. And to John T. for noting that a bunch of other Windows Phone are also available for one penny, again, today only.

I just got back from Microsoft store at Santa Clara, CA with HTC Titan free with 2 year (upgraded) contract. Microsoft is running the free windows phone deal for any windows phone on any carrier in all MS stores. The deal is valid till 11/28/2011 or stock lasts.I am very happy to leave my iPhone 3GS!!!

Question: How are you supposed to use the phone wthout either a contract or a prepaid plan?

    "No-Commitment Pricing:

You may purchase a new AT&T phone without a contract at the no-commitment price. This non-discounted equipment purchase option does not require a two-year contract or other long-term service commitment. No-commitment equipment pricing is available to customers that are not on a prepaid or GoPhone® plan. You can purchase a phone at no-commitment prices at AT&T retail stores."

If you are eligible for an upgrade you can get it at this price as well. I just finished the upgrade process and ordered the Titan. It's replacing my Samsung Focus which is being passed on to my wife who is passing her LG Quuantum on to her mother replacing her older flip phone. I went back and forth in the store comparing my Focus, the Focus S, and the Titan and decided I really wanted the BIG screen. At 6'8" I have big hands and I really liked the additional screen space. I can't wait for it to get here.
