Yes! More Samsung Ads Poking Fun at Apple Lemmings

rating: (32)

The more Samsung ads I see, the more I become convinced that this stuff just never gets old. I'm not sure what it is about the smug, insular nature of Apple's biggest fanatics that makes it so easy--and so right--to make fun of them. Well, actually, maybe I am sure. And these days, no one is doing it better than Samsung.

You may recall that Samsung previously released a fantastic advertisement making fun of the lemmings who wait in line to buy something they don't really need, and then an even better version with 24 additional seconds of Apple sycophant mocking.

And now there's more. A lot more.

The Next Big Thing Has 4G Enabled Speed

The Next Big Thing Has the Best Apps

The Next Big Thing - Movies & Music

I only wish Microsoft had the guts to make ads this good. Talk about hitting them where it hurts (i.e. with the truth).

Thanks very much to Rob L. for the tip.

Those that have this "hatred" of Apple have ALWAYS had a hatred of Apple. This Anti-Anything-Apple Cabal has hated and laughed at Apple when they were "beleaguered" and they certainly hate an Apple that's phenomenally successful without them! Like the high school bully that later finds out the object of their taunting has grown up to be successful while they still work running parts for the local car dealer they people can't stand Apple's success. Even though they reap the benefits of Apple's work though other "me too" products they can't help but post to every Apple article or mention. Seeking some sort of affirmation from other members of the Anti-Anything-Apple Cabal that their "hatred" for a COMPANY is somehow justified and not some unhealthy manifestation of deeper inner conflicts. I don't use Windows, except when needed at work, I don't use Windows Mobile, but I don't "hate" Microsoft and I for sure don't feel the need to post on Windows or Android stories. I simply have no skin in the game! I vote with my wallet. Carry on!

RJasonW74 you posted: "The Apple vs PC ads where openly making fun of the Windows users. To deny that is comical." I respectfully disagree! Apple's ads DID NOT make fun of Windows users...they made fun of WINDOWS. They took everyday issues that confront a PC user and made fun of the situation NOT the user. Apple learned long ago from their infamous "Lemmings" ad that making fun of a competitors users doesn't get you any traction in the market place. In fact it can do just the opposite.

I've been in an Apple launch line, there are definitely people exactly like the ones portrayed in these ads.

Though my strongest memory from that day was the insane numbers of asian students lining up for multiple iPad 2s to send back home.

These ads are funny. The original was the best. I hope they just make a few of them and then leave well enough alone. The Mac/PC ads were initially funny and then got old. Samsung does need to be careful here, since, well people ARE willing to stand in line for an iphone, vs. the Android world where if you miss the latest and greatest Android phone this week, don't worry, the next latest and best ever Android phone is coming out next week, and the mostest bestest ever will come out the week after that, and then...

Kudos to Samsung though for trying to separate from the Android pack. They offer a solid set of devices: Galaxy Phones, tablets, and the new Galaxy players. Despite the ad's claim that "I can get my movies from 'tons' of places" they need to get closely tied into a solid content provider like Amazon. Sure you can get your movies from tons of places, but what percentage of the average consumer is ever going to be able to figure it out on a Galaxy Tab?

Apple and now Amazon understand that the key to selling these devices is to have a solid ecosystem behind it. Turn on a Kindle Fire and you know what you are supposed to do: read, watch, listen, web, email. That's what people want.

I'm a long time user of the itunes store. You buy something and it just works across macs/pcs/ipads/ipods/appleTV. It is the content delivery system in our house. It is an ecosystem that is warm inviting and sticky. It will take a lot to get me out of it.

"Talk about hitting them where it hurts (i.e. with the truth)."

Like the non-existent Apple Store in Boston, MA on Main Street & 9th. Being from Boston, its easy to recognize thats not how most street signs look, and that the Apple Store in on Boylston St., and looks nothing like the one pictured in this commercial.

Also kind of funny that the wallpaper the girl has in the first commercial is almost exactly like the default Mac OS X 10.6 desktop picture.

But Samsung would never blatantly copy Apple's design....
