My eagerly-awaited Kindle 2 arrived yesterday, but I was in New York for a Microsoft event and had to wait until today to see it. My initial reaction is mixed: The Kindle 2 is nicer looking than its predecessor, and much more like an Apple device. But then the original version never got in the way of reading, and I don't like that the new version ships without a protective cover, a removable battery, or an SD slot. The price, too, is still way too expensive for most people. Is it a worthy upgrade? Probably not. But if you haven't taken the plunge into eBook heaven yet, stay tuned for my review.
